Avoid Leading with a "Business Card, Brochure and Hand Shake" Wait for Others to Approach You Short Impact Statement - Quickly Position What You Do and Then Focus on the Other Person Stay Engaged with This Person Avoid Scanning the Room for Your Next ContactBe an Active Listener - Who is this person - What do they do? Repeat the person's name - Have them spell it if necessary - Remember It!! Ask Stimulating Questions Who is a Good Prospect for You? Who Are Some of Your Customers? Who Would You Like To Meet? How Can We Help You? Avoid Interrupting People Engaged in Conversation But Invite Others into Yours
FOLLOW UP!
By far the most important aspect of the whole process for people you note as good for follow up Make notes on the business cards you receive (date, event and snapshot) - Rate them (A,B,C or 8,9,10) Visualize the person, say their name a few times to get it and the face in your head Contact within 24 hours via mail, phone, email, video email - Whatever is most appropriate for the level |
